This is like watching a really good Poker game because it  is constantly changing the course of the action so you just have to go with the flow and adding some pretty messed up things to it. It's so dizzying but yet so interesting, with some pretty badass scenes and not a moment of boredom.

The king's champion is back even more crazier than never. This is the book were everything happens and it's a journey for Celaena, because she will love and hate fiercely, she will be tricked by new additions to the book, beaten in all kinds of fights, attacked in every manner possible and finally get in touch with her family roots and reveal the big secret. Yeah, it's huge! This was the best Celaena we had so far, she was fierce and loyal but not to the king, but to herself. That's why I think many people like her, because she's unique and honest and she can have your back if you are her friend but she will kill you if you trick her.

 

She tipped her head back and gave the moon a wicked smile. She’d been called Adarlan’s Assassin for a reason. Dramatic entrances were practically her art form.

If you mention love and Crown of Midnight in a sentence, you are bound to be hurt because they just don't mix together. It's incompatible. If you are expecting some big happy ever after scene as well, you can forget it because this is heartbreak at it's maximum. In the book we have Dorian constantly seeing that he never had Celaena's heart in the first place which is so sad, and we have Chaol and Celaena taking their first steps towards something more than friendship. (but then the world come crashing down, as usual.) Crown of Midnight makes us suffer until the very end. And because I can't choose who I like seeing with Celaena more, I will propose something... Please make a threesome!!!

Anyone felt like Dorian was a bit off in the whole book? He seemed rather alone most of the times and sort of looked like a lost puppy. But, it was major that he was one of the character that had the biggest change in the series. He finally learned some of things about him that before didn't make sense.

He would move on. Because he would not be like the ancient kings in the song and keep her for himself. She deserved a loyal, brave knight who saw her for what she was and did not fear her. And he deserved someone that would look at him like that, even if the love wouldn’t be the same, even if the girl wouldn’t be her.

So Dorian closed his eyes, and took another long breath. And when he opened his eyes, he let her go.

Chaol is so HOT.... I had so much feelings when it came to him. He did some pretty messed up shit but he also had so many sweet and caring moments, that I am divided. The beginning until the middle of the book it was so good, with him and Celaena finally doing the "shenanigans", but then it all went down and I was depressed. I seriously, hope that their relationship gets stronger than never in the next book.

But he couldn’t help imagining it—the glimmer of the future and how it’d be to forge a life together, to call her his wife, to hear her call him husband, to raise a brood of children, who would probably be far too clever and talented for their own good (and for Chaol’s own sanity).

The king is a clever idiot! I never liked him and never will, and he deserves that Celaena drives a knife into his heart and then take the throne... Muaahhaha.

Crown of Midnight had some serious action, with out of this world monsters and creepy magical rituals and songs. It's the book where everything is out of the box and you better prepare your brain for some serious information... Definitely the best book so far.
