Oh man, did anyone else got Phantom of the Opera vibes from this? Cause I did. Totally not complaining though. I loved it. Frostblood is a super cute/delightful book about fighting your inner power and mastering it to kick some ass. Sign me up for that!

I really enjoyed the way Elly Blake wrote this book. She skipped all the exhaustive descriptions that books like these often have, and turned everything into one concise book that goes straight to the point. When she included a fighting scene or a scene where Ruby or Arcus were using their powers she described it so vividly that I could see it play out in my head clearly. We had little moments of heavy sarcasm and teasing between Ruby and Arcus, or then just Ruby with someone else, that made me laugh like a fool. These little jokes in between the story were Awesome and super funny! The story line is not very intricate and full of history, but it has treason, a secret at the end and a slow building romance with tons of tension.

He made a disgusted sound. “If we all had names to suit us, you’d be called Thorn in My Backside. Or Plague of the Gods.”

I prickled at his scathing tone. “And you’d be Miserable Blockhead.”

 “Is that the best you can do?”

“Give me time. I’m half frozen.”

Ruby is a protagonist that already knows what type of power she has, she’s a Fireblood, so throughout the book we see her constantly trying real hard to improve her power and learn how to control it. I really liked her. I liked that she always had a smartass answer on the tip of her tongue, even when she was dying (which happened every two seconds). She was super unpredictable and courageous as hell.

Arcus – the guy with the incredible well-hidden secret that was super obvious, but at the same time it wasn’t – was the perfect leading guy. He's a FrostBlood BTW. He was nasty and infuriating at the beginning but then he blossomed – he probably wouldn’t enjoy this word – into a guy that trusted Ruby enough to tell her about his past. He became this protecting, hot, mysterious joker that I absolutely fell in love with.

“Let me go,” I gasped between coughs.

“Kindly remove your talons from my arms,” said a deep voice. His hands lifted, shaking off my curled fingers. 

The romance between them two took it’s time.  Looks between training sessions, a kiss here and there… And it was filled with tension so much that I just wanted to knock their heads together and say: KISS AND DATE ALREADY!

I have nothing negative to say about Frostblood, in fact I have Fireblood right next to me ready to be read. If you like YA stories with amazing secondary characters, secrets and romance this one is for you! Elly Blake did a stupend job. 

I feel totally played right now. I Just finished The Cruel Prince and the first thing that comes to my mind is that The Cruel Prince is not so cruel, Jude is. And if that is not one hell of a plot twist I don’t know what is! And i loved every second of it...

Bold, that’s what I need to be. Like I own the place. Like I am the general’s daughter. Like I can really pull this off.

What a clever story this was. I am truly impressed by the cleverness of the author in coming up with a story that can not only change in a blink of an eye but is also so very cunning that you never know who to trust. The Cruel Prince just entered in my top 2018 favorites and it’s staying there for good. The writing is super detailed but sharp and cunning, the chapters can be either 10 pages long or just one. It’s a book full of surprises. It’s filled with deceit and revenge, cute boys that like to push people around and two brothers hungry for power. 

Jude, the protagonist, as human is powerless, but as the book goes on she starts to see that her human side can be an advantage. For she can lie. And they can’t. For she was raised by a master of swords, so nobody can best her in a fight. She has all this advantages that she doesn’t realize but will end up using. She was great, asides from a curve ball at the end (WHERE SHE WAS INCREDIBLY SMART), she was a character I loved reading about and understood her motivations and goals. I was ready to support her to the very end. Go, Jude!

To our Cruel Prince that got played at the end…. I hated you. At the beginning that is. After a couple of chapters I fell madly in love with this character, that is so cruel but also so caring. Prince Cardan was a great surprise. He went from being this nasty bully to a somewhat decent person, to be an ass again. I’m not even mad, that’s impressive.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest, with black hair as iridescent as a raven’s wing and cheekbones sharp enough to cut out a girl’s heart. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

I loved the descriptions about the faerie world, the gowns, the balls and the unique kind that they are. It was what made me really enjoy the book as much as I did.  Holly Black did an amazing job including us into this different new world that lives side by side with our own. Each description was more enchanting than the other. The folk had hair the color of every tone possible. Blue, pink, green moss and even white. Their features changed from pointy ears to large mouths and eyes of charcoal black. But all of them in their opulence were so beautiful. They contributed to a world building so well done that all I can do is congratulate the author.

"You know the charms. Salt our food and you destroy any ensorcellment on it. Turn your stockings inside out and you will never find yourself led astray. Keep your pockets full of dried rowan berries and your mind won’t be influenced.”

Cruel Prince did not disappoint whatsoever, and I’ll be keeping my eye for more books by Holly Black because her writing style is super entertaining and crazy unpredictable. 2018 is so far a great year of books! 

Brock Badd is everything except bad. He’s sexy, sweet, strong, and every other good thing I never thought I wanted in a man. I always thought I needed the real bad boys, the ones that screw you senseless and pull your hair and aren’t there to talk about it in the morning.

I’ve always been a one-night stand kind of girl, and sometimes I wouldn’t even stick around for a full night. Brock was supposed to be a one-night stand—that’s how it started out, at least. 

That was all it took. One night with Brock, and I was hooked. But hooked doesn’t mean ready for a relationship.  That’s what he wants. And deep down, I’m starting to fear that’s what I want too. 

I’m just not sure I’m ready for it. 

I’ve got it bad, real BADD.

The Badd brothers are back with “Badd to the Bone”. Is it only me that thinks the names of these books are EPIC? Because they are. In this book, Jasinda Wilder did an amazing job. The story itself is filled with emotions, heartbreak and redemption. It’s sweet, it’s hot and it’s overwhelmingly sexy. What else could we want??

No, we didn’t say that word yet, and I certainly wouldn’t be saying it first or even in return anytime soon. But I knew he was in love. And so was I.

I hated it. I didn’t want it.

But I couldn’t and wouldn’t give him up.

In the third installment of the Badd brothers, we have Brock Badd and Claire as the main couple. Brock is introduced as cool, calm and handsome and Claire as this broken girl that turns to sex to cope with her problems. And trust me, this book has a lot of sex. Like three-quarters of it is Sex. All kinds of sex. All the time. Not that I’m complaining.

The chemistry they shared was palpable in every single page. Brock helped Claire through so much even though she was a Bitch most of the time. (She broke up with Brock, told people to fuck off and did a lot of disappearing) But during those times where she was the meanest, she was also the most vulnerable. She wasn’t predictable, or the typical cliché and I found myself cheering for her to get better and to feel worthy of Brock’s love. And as the book progresses we see her battling her demons and move on from the past to focus on the present. I loved her, besides any girl that likes Top Gun is my kind of girl!!

“Don’t you dare quote Top Gun at me, woman, or I’ll fuck you silly, freshly showered or not.” 

I giggled. “Take me to bed or lose me forever, Goose.”

Brock was such a gentleman. He helped Claire when she needed and helped her build her self-esteem. He never, ever gave up on her. He, for sure is one of my favorite Badd brothers so far, because he was sweet and strong and passionate and even though he had his own demons to battle he never forgot Claire.

Badd to the Bone is a simple book with an intricate story of redemption that’s going to leave you breathless, and as always, the rest of the Badd gang were all present as well making appearances from time to time. I very much liked the family bond they shared, and we can see that a LOT now. They all have each other’s back no matter what. They are Loyal to the Bone and I can’t wait for Baxter and Evangeline story.

The Artist’s Trilogy and Dirty Angels by Karina Halle were awesome, easily two of the most intense books I’ve ever read. So, the bar was raised high for Bad at Love. And Karina Halle gave us another intense book, a lot less dark but still freaking amazeballs!!!

So here I am, by the fireplace with this book in hand and feeling super happy. Bad at love is all that it’s cranked up to be, funny, super romantic, cheesy and genuine. It’s easy to read and it’s going to leave you with a smile on your face.

This man is no longer just my friend. He’s no longer my Laz in that sense. He’s a man that I’m giving my heart over to, whether he knows it or not, whether I want to or not. There’s no reasoning, no deciding. It’s done .

He’s a man who’s going to ruin me. And for once, I just want to be ruined .

The story is about two best friends, Laz and Marina. A poet and a beekeeper. From the start they both share a strong physical attraction but choose to only be friends. After a while, they both realize that they suck in the dating world. Laz is jumping from one girlfriend to another, and Marina just can’t get past the third date. So, what’s the sensible thing to do? Date each other.

I admit I immediately connected with Marina. She’s a goof ball and soooo awkward at times. I loved her passion for Bees and how when she got nervous she kept on rambling about them non-stop. Seriously, I’ve learnt more about bees in this book than in my entire life.  And I adored that about her. It made her truly captivating. I also liked that I saw myself in her all the time! She’s so relatable.

“Why on earth are you comparing me to Taylor Swift ?”

 A small smile creeps across her lips. “Because you’re both a fan of using relationships and break-ups for creative material .”

 Ouch .

The same thing went for Laz, but instead of awkward he was super cheesy. He had tons of bee related jokes and they were really bad jokes, but I found myself so entertained by that.

Both were incredibly well-built characters. But this is no surprise coming from Karina because she’s the best. They were both vulnerable enough that we got to know them well. We saw their fears and their passions in life and we saw them overcoming all of that together. Even though to overcome it they fucked up countless times. And the story is told by their POV’s, so you get as much Marina as you get Laz! Both as individuals are amazing, but when you put them together. Oh, man. It’s perfection.

This . My woman . My person . My future . My everything .

I super recommend this book. It’s a relatively small book that made me feel super well while I was reading it. The story is real and raw, and it shows you the ups and downs of dating your best friend and finding true Love in the meantime. Karina Halle doesn’t cut corners and wrote characters that we all see ourselves in. If you haven’t read this book yet, please do! 

Today I’m going to something slightly different and make a post about book series that are totally worth reading in 2018! In fact, you should read them ASAP because they are GREAT! And I mean, the most Badass, The most iconic and the most fantastic series that I’ve read and that shall forever be in my bookshelf in order for me to re-read. Hopefully you will love them too.

Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?

I first read this and was in awe with the author ability to make us believe in a whole new world of monsters. This is a series that you shouldn’t read if you like happy endings with a good side of romance. It has romance yes, but it’s not the main thing happening so don’t expect much of it. But if you like action packed books with supernatural things attached. This is it!

2º Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens (Finished 2013) 

In this powerful and emotional love story, a young woman in a new city finds herself torn between her handsome, reliable boyfriend and a sexy local rock star.

I think the synopsis says it all honestly and I usually do not go for books with cheating boyfriends/girlfriends but this one struck a cord with me. It’s so honest and raw. The connection between the characters and how they develop over time is very well written. Even though you know they are cheating and you know it’s NOT okay, you see their love grow and you can’t help but fall in love as well. It’s a beautiful Romance.

Geneticists are seeking a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children. 

This is my Holy grail when I need some dystopian YA to escape my boring life. This is for sure one to the books that does not have a very Happy ending and where a lot of people die. You can’t get attached to almost no-one but it’s beautifully written and the author truly created a world where hope and happiness do not exist. I still love it because it has mad scientists, a truly cute gut that will take some time but you will learn to love and annoying girls that you want to protect.

4º The Calloway Sisters/Addicted Series by Krista and Becca Ritchie (Finished 2016) 

Both of this series are very dear and close to my heart. The storyline is unique and speaks about addiction, parent’s problems, relationships and the business world. It mentions almost every major problem in our current days and it does so with characters that take your breath away. So, you have a sex addict, a booze addict, a narcissist, a perfectionist, a wild girl and a rock climber. All of them paired in couples meant for each other. And the good thing is that you get to see the beginning, the middle and the end of them. You see when they meet, the problems they go trough with the media and their addictions and you see how they turned out at the end. If you like a good romance with a lot of plot twists and interesting character that make you cry and laugh out loud then read this fast!!!

5º Chicagoland Vampires by Chlow Neill (Finished 2017) 

They killed me. They healed me. They changed me.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but I was doing fine until Chicago’s vampires announced their existence to the world. When a rogue vampire attacked me, I was lucky he only got a sip. Another bloodsucker scared him off and decided the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

The queen of sarcasm and pizza is back!!! Go, MERIT! This is a book packed with a good dose of laughter, sexy vampires and lot of sexy times. It has a main character a woman, Merit, that’s attacked and made into a vampire by Ethan (SEXY VAMPIRE). It’s great, everything about it. The storyline that never gets boring and gets better with every book. The action that leaves you on edge. The romance that’s so sweet you could die. And the character that are just to DIE for!

6º Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep (Finished 2014) 

The Mythos Academy books focus on Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychometry, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. Gwen’s magic lets her see everyone who has ever touched or used an object as well as feel their emotions — the good, the bad, and the ugly.

A YA book about Greek mythology that has a main character with a power of reading the history of every object she touches. It’s great. Gwen is sarcastic all the time and always manages to get herself in situations that are impossible to escape. She and her group of friends and very hot boyfriend will go trough all kinds of situations and come trough like Bosses! The writing is compelling and inviting. And it’s just an easy book to read with tons of romance and action.

7º Rogue by Rachel Vincent (Finished 2014) 

Werecats… Yes, werecats. WERECATS FOR LIIIIIIFE! Again, with a hot, steamy romance that will leave you wanting much much more. This is a book that never lets you down and every single installment has a unique storyline with action, dishonesty, treason and a lot of werecats transformations.

8º On Dublin Street by Samantha Young (Finished 2016)

I’m going to end on a good note, with a romance series that changes POVS with every book. This series has about 6 books and all of them so good. Every story is different and about a different couple, but you still get to see the lives of the other couples before. It’s great and completely addicting. The sexy scenes are to die for. And the storyline is great.

Review:

Shattered Vows is the second book in the Denton Family Legacy Series and it was okay. I really liked the previous book Broken Promise but thought it rushed a lot in the end… This one did exactly that again but in a subtler way. So, I wasn’t too mad at it. 

             

In this installment we have Abel and Harper… And it’s quite different their relationship especially since they get married after the second date... First off Abel when he first sees Harper, tries to grab her ass immediately and still expect her to not think he’s a creeper. Seriously dude? So, Abel is kind of a prick. All the brothers are, to be honest.

I didn’t really connect with Harper in this book. I think she didn’t have any outstanding personality to stand out as a main character and for someone so indecisive she decided to marry a man she didn’t know all to easily and then regretted it 24 hours later. At least don’t regret it. It’s done. Suck it up. I really wanted to slap her a couple of times. 

She was more of a stay at home, study, and think about the future person. Gambling, partying, they damaged brain cells, and drinking, too. Alcohol was not good for the system. It made women lower their inhibitions, and teenage pregnancy was a huge issue. She wasn’t a teenager, but she also wasn’t twenty-one, either.

Abel was someone I really enjoyed reading about. He went from a Casanova to a family man in less than 24 hours, and he tried damned hard to make Harper happy the whole book and to challenge her. Even if it was by lying and pretending to be someone he isn’t… I dig that. But if you compare him with Jacob… Jacob is way better.

“Tell me one thing, Abel,”

 Damian said as he made to turn away.

 “What?” 

“Is it as intense as they say?” 

Abel knew what he was asking. Glancing toward Harper, he nodded. “The world falls away, and you know without a shadow a doubt that she will be yours for the rest of your life.”

But if I didn’t really connect with the main couple why do I still like this book? Well, because we got POV from a lot of different people. Mom, Dad and Landon were characters that I liked but because the previous book almost ignored them I didn’t get the chance to meet them. But now with these POV’s it was truly amazing to get inside their heads… And those characters alone made the book good.

Also, we see the continuation of Lou and Jacob and their adorable little child. And, as usually, we have serious business underneath all this love stuff. So, the mob part was there, less than in the previous book, but it was there.

I just read this book super fast... Why? Because it's crazy good and I was in the mood for some funny situations and Willa is always sure to give some of those.

The previous book was great. This one? Even better... Is that possible? Apparently this authors have managed to just that and I am loving them for it.

In this next installment things do get a lot more chaotic indeed. The plot thickens and the story gets even more interesting because now we see that maybe Willa isn't just a common Dweller , and maybe she is much more than that... Interesting right?

The chemistry between the brothers and Willa is so much more intense, which leads to great situation where they all want to protect her and defend her and it's sooooooooooooo cute. I know I shouldn't use the word cute when it comes to powerful Gods that make everyone shiver in fear, but it's what they are.... So cute. Also we see a lot more of the extent of their powers in this. And it's crazy...

"He looked hot and lethal. I looked homeless."

Willa is still my girl. Still love her to death. And she is still clumsy as hell. Seriously I find myself warning her.... Willa wear appropriate clothes so they won't be lost... Willa look at the floor while you're walking so you don't trip... Willa be careful of that wall... Willa there is a six foot guy in front of you... I was like this the whole book. But she found her way into my heart so it's okay. She truly is an interesting character that gets a crazy evolution in this book.

"I'm special,- I declared sarcastically. I actually was special, but not in a kick-the-gods-asses kind of way. More in the dropped-on-my-head-at-birth kind of way. "

I loved every second of this book, and laughed every second of it too... And I'll be reading it again before I read the next book which will be called SEDUCTION....

Another quick note... Isn't this cover to die for? Yes it is... The green is just so appropriate for Persuasion and the next book will be in Yellow. I love it.
