I cannot believe I’ve read a book written by no other than Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster. If I could fangirl more than I already am, I would. Folsom was by far my favorite book of the year so far. It delivers a story well thought out, filled with complex characters and outstanding writing. AND it has a really sexy guy in the cover… I have no complaints whatsoever.

Folsom is an End Man, which means he’s rare as shit because all men either died or disappeared. Alongside twelve other men, they have to repopulate the earth by having tons of sex with every woman. Or at least try. That is until he meets Gwen. When he meets her, he’s struck by the fire in her eyes and by her quirkiness. Soon after their encounter, Gwen finds out she’s pregnant with a baby boy and finds out exactly what it means. For in a world of women, the men lost all rights. Now, it’s up to them both to change society’s view of men whilst trying to save their unborn child.

Starting out with Folsom, he’s a strong, stubborn, protective man that I fell in love with from the start. Folsom is one of the few that actually does not enjoy being an End Man, but there’s nothing he can do about it. When we first meet him he’s a man that yearns for familiarity but doesn’t want to fight for it. I loved that when he met Gwen she opened his eyes to the abuse he was submitted to and made him want to fight for something better. For a family with her. I absolutely loved seeing that change in him! He fought hard for Gwen, for his sons, and for his freedom. Sometimes he won and sometimes he didn’t. But he deserves some respect because he’s a badass man willing to give his own life to protect the ones he loves.

Gwen is the strength of this book without a doubt. She’s the mechanism that started a revolution to defend the men, which are essentially being pimped out. She’s a quirky girl that fell in love with a forbidden man and fought for him until the last second. Gwen has a challenging time in the book, because either someone is trying to take her man from her, or her child, then someone betrays her and tries to kill her. It’s unbelievable what she goes through, but she never loses her strength through those hardships.

The story itself is really well built. It makes you think and see things from another perspective by inviting you to think differently about them. There are some secrets that we didn’t get to know in book one. Hopefully, book two will fix that. There also are some connections that weren’t explored to the max. I felt like Folsom’s son could have been a bigger part of the book and I DID NOT appreciate the ending he got.

Asides from that. I have zero complaints. The book never had a slow moment. It kept me interested through every chapter. The writing is detailed and beautiful without being too much.

I loved it!

P.S - If you’re about to read this book, I’ll share a warning with you. Don’t get attached to any characters because the end chilled me to the bone and crushed my little heart. Some bad people will turn out good, and some good people will turn out bad. 

Although I don't read enough YA these days, my heart still beats for them! The Last of the Firedrakes was just the YA book I needed to bring that magic back. Not only was it an amazing story but it also had tons of magic, a magical Pegasus, a cold-hearted queen, and the main character that I loved.

Let’s start with the story itself. I must admit that the book at first was a little slow for me, but once the third paragraph rolled in: DAMN GIRL!! From there on I was glued to the story and threw a tantrum every time I had to put the book down. The last of the Firedrakes has a unique story that manages to give us a ton of information and still keep It light to read and always super fun. 

Aurora was in a tough situation when the book first started, and I felt so bad for her! I instantly bonded with her because she’s such a likable character that despite her situation throughout the book, she overcomes it like a BOSS! I loved watching that evolution, it only made me love her even more. We all know that sometimes a 16-year-old in a book can be a little overwhelming, but Aurora was super mature and courageous. 

This is the first book I ever read from this author and I must say I’m impressed. Not only can she describe magical worlds that made me feel like I actually live there, but the overall book is wonderfully well written. It doesn’t have any slow moments, it kept me interested until the very end, it has tons of secrets to discover and characters that were truly unique. 

 The last of the Firedrakes was a wonderful journey that I can’t wait to carry on with on the second book. If you love fantasy stories filled with secrets, magic, loyal friends and an amazing main character, then this book is for you!

Brock Badd is everything except bad. He’s sexy, sweet, strong, and every other good thing I never thought I wanted in a man. I always thought I needed the real bad boys, the ones that screw you senseless and pull your hair and aren’t there to talk about it in the morning.

I’ve always been a one-night stand kind of girl, and sometimes I wouldn’t even stick around for a full night. Brock was supposed to be a one-night stand—that’s how it started out, at least. 

That was all it took. One night with Brock, and I was hooked. But hooked doesn’t mean ready for a relationship.  That’s what he wants. And deep down, I’m starting to fear that’s what I want too. 

I’m just not sure I’m ready for it.

The Badd brothers are back with “Badd to the Bone”. Is it only me that thinks the names of these books are EPIC? Because they are. In this book, Jasinda Wilder did an amazing job. The story itself is filled with emotions, heartbreak and redemption. It’s sweet, it’s hot and it’s overwhelmingly sexy. What else could we want??

No, we didn’t say that word yet, and I certainly wouldn’t be saying it first or even in return anytime soon. But I knew he was in love. And so was I.

I hated it. I didn’t want it.

But I couldn’t and wouldn’t give him up.

In the third installment of the Badd brothers, we have Brock Badd and Claire as the main couple. Brock is introduced as cool, calm and handsome and Claire as this broken girl that turns to sex to cope with her problems. And trust me, this book has a lot of sex. Like three-quarters of it is Sex. All kinds of sex. All the time. Not that I’m complaining.

The chemistry they shared was palpable in every single page. Brock helped Claire through so much even though she was a Bitch most of the time. (She broke up with Brock, told people to fuck off and did a lot of disappearing) But during those times where she was the meanest, she was also the most vulnerable. She wasn’t predictable, or the typical cliché and I found myself cheering for her to get better and to feel worthy of Brock’s love. And as the book progresses we see her battling her demons and move on from the past to focus on the present. I loved her, besides any girl that likes Top Gun is my kind of girl!!

“Don’t you dare quote Top Gun at me, woman, or I’ll fuck you silly, freshly showered or not.” 

I giggled. “Take me to bed or lose me forever, Goose.”

Brock was such a gentleman. He helped Claire when she needed and helped her build her self-esteem. He never, ever gave up on her. He, for sure is one of my favorite Badd brothers so far, because he was sweet and strong and passionate and even though he had his own demons to battle he never forgot Claire.

Badd to the Bone is a simple book with an intricate story of redemption that’s going to leave you breathless, and as always, the rest of the Badd gang were all present as well making appearances from time to time. I very much liked the family bond they shared, and we can see that a LOT now. They all have each other’s back no matter what. They are Loyal to the Bone and I can’t wait for Baxter and Evangeline story.

Review:

Love, Life and the List is a book about self-discovery and transformation. It’s a cute book that’s going to steal your breath away and warm your heart. The story is funny, quirky, charming and all kinds of romantic, perfect if you’re looking for a warm summer read in this cold days.  

I freed my mouth and laughed, even though the “just friends” part was not by choice. I had, in fact, professed my love to Cooper Wells exactly one year ago that very month. It had been more than obvious by his reaction that the feelings were not reciprocated. So I had to play it off like some joke. Some joke he had been more than willing to go along with. And I let him, because I didn’t want to lose him as a friend. He was the best friend in the world.

Abby was a pleasant surprise as a protagonist. I liked her sarcasm and how she was quick on her feet when she needed to give a smartass answer or even a funny one. I laughed a lot thanks to her. I also though it was well built her relationship with her grandfather. They bickered the whole book, but you could feel the love. I liked how her art was described and the whole creative process she went through, and it was a learning experience for me seeing her overcome her fears because of that list. I might just make one for myself because it really helped her and her art.

Cooper was a big teddy bear, I admit. He was introduced as this playful guy with a constant smile on his face, that was clueless about how Abby felt about him. NOT. He was a little snake in a hot guy’s body. Because he played with Abby’s feelings the whole book. But he manages to redeem himself in the end and I forgave him, but just because he’s cute and he cried.

And as the illegal sky rockets lit up the sky with their loud bangs of color, I noticed Cooper looking at me. He averted his gaze. Maybe things could change.

The couple itself was super cute. They were best friends up until the last ten pages of the book and I should totally be mad at that. But I’m not. It worked. We got to know them as friends first and see how they interact with each other and THEN we saw them as a couple. But I must admit, for a couple of seconds I was afraid they weren’t going to make it. But they did, and they have a happy ending. Don’t worry people!

The only thing I expected more out of this book is the secondary characters. Even though the main story is not about them, the secondary characters make or break a book. I have to highlight her Grandfather though, because he was a terrific character. I felt like I read about people that were supposed to be important but only showed up for two pages at the end. Cooper’s parents also didn’t really like Abby and it was explained why, but it didn’t convince me at all because that specific subject was almost never addressed or dealt with. It was brushed under the carpet. I would also have liked to read more about Abby’s dad and even her mom and Elliot. All of this, in my opinion could have been addressed with more detail because it’s important things that matter to the protagonists but are missing.

But overall, it was a simple yet sweet book that takes you back to your first crush and your first heartbreak. It’s cute and quirky and oh so adorable. The characters are well written and well thought out. Kasie West wrote a delightful book.

Holy book angels! I thought my vampire phase was long gone… Guess not! It’s back, and it just hit me full force. I don’t even have any words to describe how much I enjoyed this book.

He sits with one ankle over the opposite knee. His hand casually rests on his thigh, the other elbow braced in the window showing a dark world, slowly rubbing his chin. Dark. Deep. Captivating. Terrifying. He owns all of it.

Crown of Death is set within another series that Keary wrote, and since I never read them, I thought I would be kind of lost. Nope. She guided us into this world quite nicely. This world of Vampires and Royal Houses. I must admit that I am impressed at how easily she describes and introduces us to this elaborate world. She managed to include in the book so much background story of other houses, of the king and even of Lo, and it never got too confusing. Her writing Is simple and straight to the point and doesn’t get caught up in details that are not important. Everything happens for a reason.

I really, really enjoyed the interaction of the King Cyrus with Logan. It was really well written and the chemistry between them kept growing with every page. Nothing felt forced or rushed. And I must say, even though I despise secrets, the King kept one until the very end. And it made their relationship much more interesting, because the whole time I was going paranoid trying to guess what he was hiding.

Maybe I’m weak minded. Maybe I’m an embarrassment to all women. But it’s the truth. I fell hopelessly, soul-endingly in love with King Cyrus.

 The King was as charming as he could get. And I think I’m in love. He always showed so much devotion to Logan and loyalty as well. He would always protect her when the time came, and he always respected her. He’s goals! But instead of just seeing the strong side of the king we also got to read about his vulnerabilities. Cyrus has been alive for many centuries and he’s lost so much in that time. I could feel every one of his emotions. And still he was such a mysterious and charming character. He was beautifully written by the author.

Cyrus is a man constantly surrounded by people. People who do unnatural things to please him. People who bend to his will and command. But Cyrus is the loneliest man I’ve ever met.

Logan, or future QUEEN OF THE VAMPIRES, was everything I want to be. From the beginning you can see that’s she’s a very loyal daughter and friend. When Cyrus shows up and tells her she has to die I was expecting her to break down. But NO! She took the news like the big girl she is and owned them. She was so strong and courageous. She was a girl that never fell in love and doesn’t know how that feels like. But she craves it. And throughout the book when we see her slowly falling in love it’s like she’s reborn, she gets bolder, stronger and far more risk taking. There was never a dull moment with her.

I truly loved every page of this book. I loved the story and how it was told. I loved that it’s very fast paced and so interesting. We have vampire battles and balls. Pretty dresses and beautiful men. Action scenes that will leave you dizzy. And a love story that will break your heart.

If there is one thing I would point out is that I was sad about how it ended, because it stopped at a very crucial point. Now I must wait for god-knows how many months to have the next book. And I need it! Like, NOW! So please, Keary give us the next book soon, I need my Cyrus and Logan fix. ASAP!

How it is Possible that every book that I read from this author gets better than the last? It shouldn’t be possible, but I came to learn that she’s just a badass author that can write a kickass romance book in a heartbeat…

Scandalous was exactly that. Scandalously breathtaking.

I closed the distance between us, simply watching her. Standing over her. Fuck, I was one step away from a restraining order, but it was hard not to look. She revived something in me, just as she had with Luna. I didn’t know what it was, but I relished the unsolicited warmth that came with it. What was really shitty, though, was that both Luna and I were fucked, because this girl had her heart somewhere else.

I couldn’t get my hands off this book no matter how hard I tried. The story itself is so addicting and the main characters are just balls of personality that clash every time they meet. It’s so entertaining and unbelievably hot that you can feel every inch of the sexual tension between those two. The author managed to create two distinct personalities that complement each other oh so well. She didn’t only create a swoon worthy couple, but she gave them life with their stories. They’re both broken. They have both been trough hell. Trent was left with a child that does not speak and no matter how hard he tries he can’t make her happy. Eddie puts up with a father that despises her and a mother that’s absent. It’s all a rollercoaster of fucked up. And I found myself taking in their pain and their frustrations as my own. I always say, if a book can get me to want to go inside of it and kick some ass it’s a great book. And it did just that. I wanted to knockout anyone who tried to hurt them.

And then there’s us. Me. Trent. Our love. Our love draws attention like a wildfire. We’re a biracial couple with a huge age gap. We carry baggage in the form of two kids. It looks bad. Tragic, even. Not half as photogenic as Vicious’ perfect little family, or Jaime’s gorgeous fair-haired nest, or Dean’s sweet, no age-gap, no-nonsense household. We’re different, and we wouldn’t change it for the world.

Even though the main characters both have massive personalities this book also focused a lot on the secondary characters. They are equally as good as Trent and Edie and they complement their story beautifully. You have so many people such as friends and family that are a part of this and the author let’s their personality shine freely. And all of them brought something great to the story, no matter how small. Of course, some of them were stupid little shits, like Edie’s father. But let’s ignore him, shall we?

Asides from all this awesomeness that kept me up until five in the morning, this book made me laugh, cry and go crazy at the same time. It’s incredibly entertaining and sarcastic. The sexual tension is over the roof and the sexy scenes are just to die for. The writing was great and straight to the point. The characters were exciting as hell and the plot thickens every time you turn a page. And it also has a happy ending. 

“Good. I always enjoyed the broken in the fairy tales better. The apple always looked shinier because I knew it could destroy me. The villain was just damaged and misunderstood, and the monster…” I leaned on my tiptoes, biting the tip of his ear, just barely reaching his impossible height. “I always kept the door to my closet a little ajar as a kid to make sure it could come out in case it wanted to play.” 

His breath skated on my neck, hot and wanting and deliriously fresh. 

“The monster wants to play.”º

I couldn’t ask for more and loved every bit of it.

Victoria Aveyard picked up her glass sword and plunged it trough my heart… You might think I’m being dramatic, but I’m truly not. Right now, I am heartbroken by the end of the book. I’m sad and probably only hot chocolate will start to mend my broken heart… Hopefully. If I ever though that Red Queen had a sad ending this is much worse.

If I am a sword, I am a sword made of glass, and I feel myself beginning to shatter.

Putting my sadness aside, Victoria Aveyard gave us a book worth reading slowly and carefully. She maintains her beautiful writing and her ability to describe the world around the characters is breathtaking. You feel like you are in a different world.

The characters themselves were pushed to the extreme. Every single one of them.  With the Reds raising against the prince and queen and with Mare trying to gather every Newblood she can before they’re killed. It’s a race against time the entire book. Whilst reading this I was sitting on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t stop reading. Just kept saying to myself. Just one more chapter. Just one more. It’s addictive and oh so good.

Something I loved was reading about the characters development. The main characters were badass and kind of gave an x-men vibe the entire time. But the way they are so loyal to each other. And when bad luck strikes watching them all battle it, it’s inspiring. The author wrote super strong characters that aren’t flawless. They bleed, and they hurt and it makes them much more relatable.

The girl I see is both familiar and foreign, Mare, Mareena, the lightning girl, the Red Queen, and no one at all. She does not look afraid. She looks carved of stone, with severe features, hair braided tight to her head, and a tangle of scars on her neck. She is not seventeen, but ageless, Silver but not, Red but not, human—but not. A banner of the Scarlet Guard, a face on a wanted poster, a prince’s downfall, a thief . . . a killer. A doll who can take any form but her own.

For those of you that expected some romance to happen, it doesn’t. I’m just warning you now. I wished it had a bit more of Cal and Mare but I also understand why the author is not going down that path. It’s too soon and the characters still have a lot to fight before they can have happiness.

The end of this book was hard to read as you probably understood buy my breakdown at the start. But I feel like it’s necessary even though it broke my heart. I will jump right into the next one to see if it improves and hopefully will have a happy ending. Or a start of one.

I rarely give a book 5 whole stars but this one deserves it fully.
