I cannot believe I’ve read a book written by no other than Tarryn Fisher and Willow Aster. If I could fangirl more than I already am, I would. Folsom was by far my favorite book of the year so far. It delivers a story well thought out, filled with complex characters and outstanding writing. AND it has a really sexy guy in the cover… I have no complaints whatsoever.

Folsom is an End Man, which means he’s rare as shit because all men either died or disappeared. Alongside twelve other men, they have to repopulate the earth by having tons of sex with every woman. Or at least try. That is until he meets Gwen. When he meets her, he’s struck by the fire in her eyes and by her quirkiness. Soon after their encounter, Gwen finds out she’s pregnant with a baby boy and finds out exactly what it means. For in a world of women, the men lost all rights. Now, it’s up to them both to change society’s view of men whilst trying to save their unborn child.

Starting out with Folsom, he’s a strong, stubborn, protective man that I fell in love with from the start. Folsom is one of the few that actually does not enjoy being an End Man, but there’s nothing he can do about it. When we first meet him he’s a man that yearns for familiarity but doesn’t want to fight for it. I loved that when he met Gwen she opened his eyes to the abuse he was submitted to and made him want to fight for something better. For a family with her. I absolutely loved seeing that change in him! He fought hard for Gwen, for his sons, and for his freedom. Sometimes he won and sometimes he didn’t. But he deserves some respect because he’s a badass man willing to give his own life to protect the ones he loves.

Gwen is the strength of this book without a doubt. She’s the mechanism that started a revolution to defend the men, which are essentially being pimped out. She’s a quirky girl that fell in love with a forbidden man and fought for him until the last second. Gwen has a challenging time in the book, because either someone is trying to take her man from her, or her child, then someone betrays her and tries to kill her. It’s unbelievable what she goes through, but she never loses her strength through those hardships.

The story itself is really well built. It makes you think and see things from another perspective by inviting you to think differently about them. There are some secrets that we didn’t get to know in book one. Hopefully, book two will fix that. There also are some connections that weren’t explored to the max. I felt like Folsom’s son could have been a bigger part of the book and I DID NOT appreciate the ending he got.

Asides from that. I have zero complaints. The book never had a slow moment. It kept me interested through every chapter. The writing is detailed and beautiful without being too much.

I loved it!

P.S - If you’re about to read this book, I’ll share a warning with you. Don’t get attached to any characters because the end chilled me to the bone and crushed my little heart. Some bad people will turn out good, and some good people will turn out bad.

Immortals: Can live forever / High resilience to injuries / Super strong.

I confess that I had my eye on this ever since it was announced, and Alessandra Torre just blew me away with this wonderful Book. Hidden Seams has a magnificent original story that I devoured in less than 5 hours because I couldn’t let it go without getting to the end. The book is really well written and shows us the glamorous world of fashion and its downsides, it has a web of lies but is also quirky and fun with tons of awkward situations and sarcasm. Is it to early to say it’s on my top 3 of 2018? I think not!

I’m in love. I’m in fucking love with this woman. She has the blood of a Horace, the temperament of a lion, and the sexual proclivities of every fantasy I’ve ever had.

Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But the bloodthirsty Minax that was trapped inside is now haunting her kingdom and everyone she loves. The answers to its demise may lie to the south in Sudesia, the land of the Firebloods, and a country that holds the secrets to Ruby’s powers and past…

Despite warnings from her beloved Arcus, Ruby accompanies a roguish Fireblood named Kai to Sudesia, where she must master her control of fire in a series of trials to gain the trust of the suspicious Fire Queen. Only then can she hope to access the knowledge that could defeat the rampaging Minax—which grows closer every moment. But as sparks fly in her moments alone with Kai, Ruby no longer knows whom to trust. The fates of two kingdoms are now in her hands.

Elly Blake did it again. She left me speechless with the second book of the Frostblood saga.

“Fire is hungry, but it’s also elegant.” He turned my hands over again, lifting the right one and brushing his lips to the back as if he were a gentleman meeting me for the first time. A shiver rippled across my shoulders. “Wild and precise. Dangerous but beautiful.”

I feel totally played right now. I Just finished The Cruel Prince and the first thing that comes to my mind is that The Cruel Prince is not so cruel, Jude is. And if that is not one hell of a plot twist I don’t know what is! And i loved every second of it...

Bold, that’s what I need to be. Like I own the place. Like I am the general’s daughter. Like I can really pull this off.

What a clever story this was. I am truly impressed by the cleverness of the author in coming up with a story that can not only change in a blink of an eye but is also so very cunning that you never know who to trust. The Cruel Prince just entered in my top 2018 favorites and it’s staying there for good. The writing is super detailed but sharp and cunning, the chapters can be either 10 pages long or just one. It’s a book full of surprises. It’s filled with deceit and revenge, cute boys that like to push people around and two brothers hungry for power.

Jude, the protagonist, as human is powerless, but as the book goes on she starts to see that her human side can be an advantage. For she can lie. And they can’t. For she was raised by a master of swords, so nobody can best her in a fight. She has all this advantages that she doesn’t realize but will end up using. She was great, asides from a curve ball at the end (WHERE SHE WAS INCREDIBLY SMART), she was a character I loved reading about and understood her motivations and goals. I was ready to support her to the very end. Go, Jude!

To our Cruel Prince that got played at the end…. I hated you. At the beginning that is. After a couple of chapters I fell madly in love with this character, that is so cruel but also so caring. Prince Cardan was a great surprise. He went from being this nasty bully to a somewhat decent person, to be an ass again. I’m not even mad, that’s impressive.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest, with black hair as iridescent as a raven’s wing and cheekbones sharp enough to cut out a girl’s heart. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

I loved the descriptions about the faerie world, the gowns, the balls and the unique kind that they are. It was what made me really enjoy the book as much as I did.  Holly Black did an amazing job including us into this different new world that lives side by side with our own. Each description was more enchanting than the other. The folk had hair the color of every tone possible. Blue, pink, green moss and even white. Their features changed from pointy ears to large mouths and eyes of charcoal black. But all of them in their opulence were so beautiful. They contributed to a world building so well done that all I can do is congratulate the author.

"You know the charms. Salt our food and you destroy any ensorcellment on it. Turn your stockings inside out and you will never find yourself led astray. Keep your pockets full of dried rowan berries and your mind won’t be influenced.”

Cruel Prince did not disappoint whatsoever, and I’ll be keeping my eye for more books by Holly Black because her writing style is super entertaining and crazy unpredictable. 2018 is so far a great year of books!

In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries.

No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever.

But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate—and the fate of time itself.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED? Seriously, I need help right now because this story just took everything I Thought I knew and destroyed it in just two chapters. What a suspense packed ending to a great YA/Fantasy book by Sara Holland. I truly loved every bit of it so much I even fangirled a LOT, like all the freaking time. And look at this beautiful cover, it’s captivating.

This was one of my 2018 most expected book releases because the synopsis sounded awesome, but I was not expecting just how good it truly was. The story itself is fresh and new without any type of clichés and filled with deceit, lies, betrayal and just a hint of romance in the background.

The fantasy part, was wonderfully well-constructed and written to a point that you can feel that you’re in inside that world. It wasn’t overly done, like a lot of fantasy books. It remained rather simple, but always exciting enough that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I could not put it down until the last chapter. I found truly unique that the author made time be a valuable coin that you can trade for anything you need. All you need to do it take a bit of blood, depending if you want it to be days, hours or even years and make it into a coin. This is super unique and soooo cool.

The protagonist Jules, had to flee the palatial estate where she lived with her father, because of something that happened, something that she’s kept a secret for a very long time. Ever since then she’s been on the run, from Liam and from the Queen, until the need to work takes her back to the same place that she escaped from. I loved her to bits. Jules was cunning and smart, always running around with ideas to find out more about her past rather than being sorry for herself. She was also selfless and hardworking. She would risk everything to save her father and give him more time. I always love a Protagonist that can be kind despite the circumstances. The idea of romance that we have with her and Roan, was just that. An idea. Nothing actually happens, and I preferred it that way honestly. EVEN THOUGH I’M A SUCKER FOR ROMANCE, she didn’t belong with Roan and she did better by herself. This is a girl that does not need a love interest to make her interesting. She does that all on her own

When describing Roan and Liam a quote comes to mind: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. One might seem handsome and charming and the other mean and calculating, but is that true? I adored all the mind games that author gave us regarding these boys. I kept going back and forward about who was the good guy, who was the guy that we could trust. Bottom line they both play a BIG part in this story, they both make Jules heart jump, but which one is truly there for her? You’ll never know….

I’ve swept my hair forward to conceal my face—and though I am no longer the skinny, knobby-kneed girl of my youth—I’m terrified that Liam will remember me. And I’m terrified that Roan will not.

The rest of the characters were just fabulous. The queen was a major biatch, which I can understand, but she wasn’t the MAIN BIATCH, if you know what I mean… Oh, no. The main biatch is someone you’ll never see coming. I’ve said it before in this book nothing is what it seems. So be careful getting attached to characters and trusting them. Don’t trust anyone until the end. It’s my advice. Don’t be like me.

Everless just won over my little heart and made sure it was pumping correctly, by scaring it endlessly. Sara Holland did a great job and I can’t wait until the next one comes out, and if it’s nearly as good as this one… Then I might just die of happiness.

Dark Fantasy. Dragons. Intrigue. Romance.

More than anything, I crave adventure. But in the disease ridden land of Verald, life is mapped out much like the well-established rings of our kingdom.
At the very heart reigns our vicious king and Lord Irrik, an invincible dragon shifter, at his side. Their power poisons the land and the people, leading to a steadily mounting number of enemies.
But change is coming.
When the rebellion surges, the king strikes back. Captured by Lord Irrik, I'm suddenly embroiled in a deadly game. One where I'm desperate to understand the rules.
Because I'm not only fighting for my life . . . but also a love that could be the very key to my freedom.

I just recently found this book by accident on Amazon and decided to give it shot because it had Dragons. Anything that has Dragons is awesome. Now combine Dragons + one Mad King + tons of Romance + Rebels and you’ve got yourself a truly powerful book. I could not put it down; my hands wouldn’t allow it. I was enthralled by it from page one until the very end. And look at the cover as well, I mean it’s extraordinary.

Blood Oath is a book written by two authors: Raye Wagner and Kelly St.Clare. (Two authors that I would love to be friends with because if this story came out of their heads, I can’t even imagine how cool they must be.). Exhibit A - Look at this Quote below...

He hadn’t warmed the bath water, and I could only guess that meant . . .

“You’re not going to try to breed with me, right?” I asked, determined to know my fate. The idea of being intimate with the Drae was terrifying for more reasons than I wanted to consider .

Irrik’s features hardened. “Are you asking me this because I didn’t heat your bath water ?”

“No.” Okay, maybe that was a leap .

The whole book takes place in a world taken hostage by its king. The peasants have no food and the country is slowly starving itself. The king is hated and feared, but a rebel force is rising to take him down. It follows a girl called Ryn that thinks she’s an ordinary girl that happens to kill every plant she touches. Totally normal. One day she finds herself face to face with a Drae (A Dragon Shifter called Irrik that works for the king). And he happens to be as handsome as he is Deadly. After that, she’s taken to the king and discovers that she’s everything but ordinary. In fact, she’s as deadly as the Drae. She’s a (wait, let me check my notes because it’s a complicated name) Phaetyn. Where she is light and life the Drae is darkness and death. They were meant to be each other’s enemy, but in the presence of a bigger threat they must join forces.

As a protagonist, Ryn was amazeballs. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a character that made me this thrilled to read about. She’s a girl that tends to talk too much when she is in dangerous situations, kills every plant on site and despites potatoes. She’s truly interesting. I was engrossed by her from the very beginning. She’s sarcastic and funny without even trying too hard. She gets herself into absurd situations all the time but always manages to come out of them, unharmed or otherwise, and always with a smartass answer to give. She was well constructed, her personality shined trough in every moment and her defiance was extraordinary. She did not give up once in the entire book. And trust me, she was beaten, cut, almost drowned, betrayed, had spiders in her ears, witnessed loved ones dying and lived in a cell for a long time. She suffered a ton. But did she loose her fight? Nope, she just fought harder and harder.

I would do everything the king told me, everything. I would make him think I was the most compliant prisoner ever. I wouldn’t ask for anything more than what they gave, and I wouldn’t put anyone I loved at risk. I would be patient until the moment was perfect. Then, I’d make sure they all paid .

I just love Dragons. The idea of them as these regal creatures is just badass. So, having a Dragon Shifter that happens to be real pretty, had me surrendered. Irrik is a Drae that has a blood oath with the King, he sworn he would never disobey him, otherwise he would suffer. It’s complicated for Irrik to want to protect Ryn and at the same time having to follow the King’s orders to hurt her. He can bend his orders of course, but he can never disobey completely. I really liked his personality and it complemented Ryn’s beautifully. As I mentioned, he’s supposed to be the darkness to Ryn’s light. Consequently, it was great seeing them bicker the whole book. He was real patient all the time, unless he was ripping a poor guy’s head off his shoulder with his enormous Dragon paws. Irrik was an amazing character, he was loyal and did everything in his power to shield Ryn for the abuse of the king. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t, but he still tried. And, it was super cool to read about how when he lost control he would partially shift in to the Dragon side of him. He was also so clever and managed to play the king during the whole book. Urgh, I can’t wait for the next book to read more about him and his past.

I glared at Irrik, hating him for making me feel weak. If he were one centimeter closer, I’d punch him. Maybe. “I was laughing at you,”

 I snapped. “ Dimwit .”

The Drae clutched my elbow. “I don’t see the humor in the joke, Khosana .”

He wore his usual black aketon, but an equally dark expression was in position on his face today, too. Despite his obvious brooding, the Drae remained alert, his muscles coiled, anticipating attack .

I batted my eyes at him. “Oh, do go on. I love when you talk Drae to me .”

All the other characters, they were so well constructed, It left me super impressed. The rebels, the bad guys, the king, Ryn’s mother. All of them had something to hide which created a story filled to the brim with mysteries. Some of them are super obvious, but some aren’t, and you just need to pay attention to every single word. Otherwise you’ll get played. (Like me, I admit). So, pay attention!!

The romance was beautiful. It wasn’t a in YOUR FACE kind of romance, it was more slowly built and more intense. It wasn’t only with Ryn and Irrik, but with Ryn and Tyr as well. And no, it’s not a love triangle. AS I SAID, PAY ATTENTION AND YOU SHALL UNDERSTAND…. I am a sucker for romance, and this one was just perfect, it complemented the book and it didn’t draw any attention for the main goal. Which is the end the King. But it did end quite bad in the end, so I am hoping that in the next book things will improve.

So, this might just be the biggest review I have ever written, but I really loved this book. It had action scenes where my heart was going to jump out of my chest, it had scheming and calculating characters I wanted to throw in the sewer, romance that was truly captivating and a story that lures you in from the first page and never gets boring. The writing is fast paced, provocative and so funny. These two authors are now in my radar and they did an splendid job. I can’t wait for the next one…  I shall leave the next cover here so you can see how beautiful It is.

At Mythos Academy, everyone knows exactly who I am: Rory Forseti, Spartan girl and the daughter of Reapers.

Even though I fought alongside my cousin Gwen Frost to save the mythological world from Loki and his evil Reapers of Chaos, I’m still the most hated girl at the academy because of all the horrible things my parents did. I had hoped that this school year would be different, but the other kids just won’t let me forget about my parents.

But something strange is going on at the Colorado Academy. First, I run into a Viking guy who dislikes me more than most. Then I notice some odd artifacts in the Library of Antiquities. And worst of all, I start hearing rumors about a new group of Reapers who can summon mythological monsters.

I might be the most hated girl at Mythos Academy, but I’m also the only one who can save it . . .

Review:

Mythos academy and Gwen Frost will always be my all time favorite series and character. There's something about it that pulls me into that world and i never want to leave. Therefore, when the books ended I was devastated, but when it was announced that we would have a spinoff and I knew I would have this world again I was so excited. And Jennifer Estep did not disappoint whatsoever.

I wanted to do something important. Something that mattered. Something that would aid other people. And maybe, just maybe, something that would help make up for all my parents’ mistakes.

This spinoff focuses on Rory, Gwen’s cousin. Rory is a Spartan that can make anything into a weapon. And I mean really anything. Want to kill someone with a toothpick? She can make it happen for you. And not only can she kill you with it, but she never misses. What makes her super deadly and super interesting. Rory lost her parents in the previous books because they were reapers and were killed by a bad guy. This gives her some motivation in the book to find out what were her parents reasons to join the reapers and decide if she wants to join them or fight them. Rory is also going to have her own sword to fight the bad guys that has a curse attached to it… A very annoying Irish sword that I adored, called Babs.

I really liked getting to know Rory. Previously, Jennifer did a great job creating Gwen and making her into a girl that turns her weakness into her biggest strength. And she did it again. Rory was a character that was strong from day one, even though she had some moments where she doubted herself. She was loyal to her friends and determined to fight the bad guys to the very end. She’s selfless and hard to kill, paired with a lot of sarcasm to help her out in times of need. She was a fantastic lead character and I can’t wait to read more about her.

Devotion is strength .

And I realized something. Friends were strength too, the best kind of strength there was—not to mention love, hope, and happiness.

There’s something else this author does very well… The romantic interest it’s always spot on! And now the romantic interest was Ian. Ian also lost his brother to the reapers, so from the beginning they have this in common even though they bicker every single time they meet. It’s a love/hate relationship that worked super well. But the most important part is, that the romance part of the book does not revolve around only that. The romance is in the background, making appearances here and there. It’s quite subtle which makes it even better and builds it up quite nicely.

I sighed. “Okay, so maybe Ian isn’t a complete jackass like I thought he was. But that doesn’t mean the two of us are going steady or anything. We just hate each other slightly less than before.” “Ri-i-ight,”

Zoe drawled again. “Keep telling yourself that.”

The main story is about a group of reapers that want to dominate the world and prove to everyone how bad they are. So, for that, they steal artifacts and try to kill as many people as they can. This is not by any means a super intricate storyline in which you don’t know what’s going to happen until the end. No. In fact, this is quite predictable. The good guys are going to defeat the bad guys… But that’s okay. It doesn’t make the story any less interesting. It just makes it easier to read. I’ve come to learn that Jennifer’s books are more centered around the details and the strength of her characters. And, she does this soooooo freaking well that having a simpler story does not affect the quality of the book in any way, shape or form.

I always loved the Mythos academy books and can’t say enough good things about them, and Spartan Heart lived up to my expectation and exceeded them. This book is predictable but enjoyable, funny and incredible sarcastic. You have the talented friend that’s crazy good at giving makeovers, you have a ball and some kickass mythical creatures. It’s just puts you in a good mood whilst reading it and takes you into a new fantastic world. Jennifer Estep I don’t know how you do it, but congratulations.

ASIN B01NBVOYKN

In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods.

At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won’t ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world—a position that she definitely did not earn.

Under the sudden, watchful eye of the gods, she will be tasked to serve the Abcurse brothers, five sols built of arrogance, perfection and power. They are almost gods themselves, and under their service she is either going to end up sentenced to death, or else they are going to ruin her so badly that she will wish for it.

Either way, she is in trouble.

Review:

Okay so if this synopsis does not drawn you in, the cover should. Look at that beautiful purple and that beautiful dress and all of that. It's perfect!

So I must say I love me some YA. It's fun and flirty. Easy to read and you always get some good laughs while you're at it. And this book delivered all of that, and then some more! It's perfect. The story is unique, the characters are super funny and laidback and the main girl Willa is just way too precious for me. She's amazing. Not boring at all...

“Where’s the creativity, gods? I didn’t see why Death couldn’t have pink. Or purple. What if he liked sparkles?”

Willa is a Dweller. That being said she is not lucky at all and she is treated like trash, until she is offered a position at Blesswood. Blesswood is an academy for Sols (yup, you know it's about to get good) and All of them are beautiful Sols. Seriously, there is not one ugly person at this school. And all of the guys are tall and handsome and shit. I'd love to go there.

I didn't think I would like Willa at all. First of all she is really clumsy. Like, she gets hurt like no one and she gets herself into situations you wouldn't think could happen at all. But she is so much fun. Now she's my girl and I'm cheering for her so bad! Go, Willa!

“It’s your own fault, Will. What did I tell you about walking?” “That I should leave it to the experts,”

Willa as you may notice is a kind of name that could be of a guy or a girl. You can't really tell. So she is mistaken for a boy right at the start. So she has to clean the men's ward at the school. Which BTW is like sooooo funny... And because of that she meets the most powerful Sols there are. The ABCURSE Brothers.... YES!

The brothers are all Sols, but really powerful ones. They are also really intense and really funny. And they're all beautiful and each has their own power... Like I was obsessed with them. At first I didn't think that having five guys and one girl was really going to work but I loved Willa so much that I gave the rest of the characters a change and I do not regret it at all. They all blended so nice and the brothers made the story ten times better. And when you add a clumsy girl named Willa with five Powerful beautiful Sols with five different personalities... It's just great. And I giggled the whole time. It's that good.

“They moved as a single unit of zero-fucks-given through the crowd.”

The story itself was really well written. The whole book is not big at all and it took me like four hours to finish it all because I loved it so much. It has funny moments. A dramatic story where you'll be at the edge of your seat and a fantastic world of the gods where Willa has to survive and barely makes it out alive several times.

Also, there are going to be five books in total and each of the books are named after a power of one of the brothers. That's genius and just makes me want to read all of them even more. And if the covers are as god as this one and if the story maintains it's uniqueness, I can already tell it's one of my favorite series of this whole year.

Now I'm going to read Persuasion and keep on laughing like a crazy woman...
