Fury's Kiss (Dorina Basarab 3) by Karen Chance

3.4

Goodreads :

Dory is used to fighting hard and nasty. So when she wakes up in a strange scientific lab with a strange man standing over her, her first instinct is to take his head off. Luckily, the man is actually the master vampire Louis-Cesare, so he’s not an easy kill.

It turns out that Dory had been working with a Vampire Senate task force on the smuggling of magical items and weaponry out of Faerie when she was captured and brought to the lab. But when Louis-Cesare rescues her, she has no memory of what happened to her.

To find out what was done to her—and who is behind it—Dory will have to face off with fallen angels, the maddest of mad scientists, and a new breed of vampires that are far worse than undead…

The day i got the book :

The first few pages were quite confusing with a fight scene awesomely vivid and some craziness by Dory. She wakes up in a strange lab with a read-head telling her that he is her boyfriend. Shocker she told him to go to hell. But they fought anyway and ran. So the awaking up in the room routine starts. You will know what i mean in just about a moment.

Karen chance kills me in what comes to romance, action and twists and turns. She's the best hands down, although her books sometimes can drag on for pages with the same things.  A conversation in this book can last up to thirty pages, that's big... and sometimes saying the same.

"Sometimes I don’t make sense, even to me."  Dorina

The book really did it for me, (the multiple character disorder) it was fast paced and very well described with enough romance, action and sort of horror scenes to appeal to all kinds of tastes.
Her relationships developments were extraordinary,

1# Ray. She becomes his master without really wanting it, meaning he went to the senate telling them she protected him and now she was his protector. Dory went speechless. That guy can seriously kick ass, not, though he is really good bringing the mood up, he always has something happening to him. Either it's his ass getting burned (literally) or getting kidnapped buy some serious dangerous people.

“So I guess this makes me your sidekick, right?” he asked. “Like I could be…"
“Robin?”
He scowled. “I ain’t no Robin.”
“What’s wrong with Robin?”
“What’s wrong?” Ray rolled his eyes. “Two words: green Speedo. And he was lame. Batman was always having to save his ass.”
I didn’t say anything.
“Hey, I was doing okay before you showed up. All right?”
I decided not to comment on that, mainly because I hadn’t been doing any better. “So Robin’s out.”
2# Mircea (her father). So she hates him pretty bad because he messed up with her memories making her forget about her mother and uncle (Dracula oh yeah), she always blamed him for her existence and always though he didn't quite liked her. He proved her wrong either physically and verbally. He tries, he really does but she's just no that into it. In the book we get some flashes of they're life that he erased. The loves he has for her is evident in the memories, she is a child and he reads for her and tells her that to keep her safe they have to move over and over again but he will never give up on her. Never. Thought everyone tells him that he should kill her now and avoid danger later. He doesn't do it. He loves her badly, she is his daughter after all.

But his face was drawn and his eyes were pained as he looked down at me, and there was a strange expression on his face: defiance and fierce pride and something that looked like wonder, all jumbled up.

Ohhh. For the first time she actually believes he loves her.

3# Louis-Chesare. The love interest, because no book could be good without one. So, they are always interrupted by someone when they are getting they're freak on (yup i just said that) and she thinks de isn't serious about her, because previously everyone is reluctant either to touch her or be near her. But he is different and she feels it and is afraid.

“He’s stupid about you,” Ray said, glaring at me. “And you’re stupid about him. You’re both stupid about each other, which would be great if you weren't also really fucking stupid—” “Ray.”

This says it all. In the end all ends well though. She lets her fences down and lets him in making them an official couple. AHHHHH

After a while, it got a little better, and I rolled over and watched the vampire instead. He was more interesting—a lot more, I decided, as the firelight danced over fascinating hills and valleys, hard muscle and soft creases, and picked out fiery glints in the dark mass of his hair. And in the brilliant blue eyes that slowly opened to blink at me. An arm reached out and tugged me over, and I went grinning, sprawling on top of him bonelessly. And pleased to discover that, yes indeedy, he wasn’t wearing anything except a satiny comforter. Of course, that was kind of a problem, too, because silken sheets and satin bedding and sleek vampire turn out to be kind of slippery. I started to slide off the other side, but hands came up to grip my waist. I smiled sloppily at their owner.
And it ends they're suffering of one another like this. :D:D:D

The book is ginormous. I say more relationships with Louis-chesare, more love and caring for her father and less pages for sure. It will be the perfect book next.
And while i wait for it i will reincarnate Dorina with everyone else.
