Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful 1#) by Jamie McGuire
December 27, 2012Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
This is one of the best books I've read in a while. such a refreshing story full of Love and of problems of your daily life. Because of a bet Abby gets to endure with Travis for a Month but soon they became best friends and even sooner more than that. But not everything is a see of roses.
“To douchebags!" he said, gesturing to Brad. "And to girls that break your heart," he bowed his head to me. His eyes lost focus. "And to the absolute fucking horror of losing your best friend because you were stupid enough to fall in love with her.”
Abby is an amazing person, i loved that she was a poker player and could kick some serious ass, though she was a bit annoying at the beginning for being so clueless about the feelings Travis had for her. She also has a boyfriend. You see the problem. But anyway she is awesome, she's serious yet fun and she is a effing genius.
The whole book spins around that one month she spent in Travis apartment, the month that she will finally give in to his charms.
Travis is a big old bad boy. The best kind, but he is just so uncertain once it comes to feelings and relationships that i kind of understood Abby's point of view, but you can see a development in Travis manners. Not counting the moment when he brought home those chicks knowing Abby would see. That was pathetic. But he is the kind os character that you can Hate and Love, though all of the stalking and the mood attacks you can see perfectly that he never loved anyone like that and was just scared of his feelings.
“I know we're fucked up, alright? I'm impulsive, and hot tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don't deserve you...but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I loved anyone or anything ever. When you're around, I don't need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands...”
Mick (Abby's Dad) was a perfect jackass thinking his daughter had steeled his "Luck" because he had previously been a famous poker player and then he just wasn't anymore. So he blamed his daughter. His blackmails by asking her for money saying she owed him was disgusting.
America is the perfect buddy or "conscience" that anyone could ask for, she was there every step of the way either just giving advice or punching Travis for his actions.
Shep's is also great, though i only started liking him at the end of the book.
Beautiful disaster is a five star story that i absolutely loved. The end was perfect. the fighting, the betting and the Mob created a world of danger in a romance book. The perfect combination
