Description:

The year is 1871, and Tiki has been making a home for herself and her family of orphans in a deserted hideaway adjoining Charing Cross Station in central London. Their only means of survival is by picking pockets. One December night, Tiki steals a ring, and sets off a chain of events that could lead to all-out war with the Fey. For the ring belongs to Queen Victoria, and it binds the rulers of England and the realm of Faerie to peace. With the ring missing, a rebel group of faeries hopes to break the treaty with dark magic and blood—Tiki’s blood.

Unbeknownst to Tiki, she is being watched — and protected — by Rieker, a fellow thief who suspects she is involved in the disappearance of the ring. Rieker has secrets of his own, and Tiki is not all that she appears to be. Her very existence haunts Prince Leopold, the Queen’s son, who is driven to know more about the mysterious mark that encircles her wrist.

This book brings us a brave and innocent girl that fights to protect the ones she loves most.
Tiki is a former lady turned thief, though not by her choice. After her parents died she went to her aunt but there was something about her uncle, something in the way he gazed at her that made her uncomfortable so she had to run and the only life that accepted her and her only choice were the streets, where she meet friends for life, her family...
But when she steels a ring that happens to hold truce between worlds and soon realizes that she's in the middle of something way bigger than her.  Oh boy. She better trust in her self, friends and sometimes even foes...

"But that was the whole problem—it took money to buy good health, to get the proper medicines to cure an ailment. And the ring was their only hope of getting enough money to afford a home of their own someday."

Tiki is such a wonderful example of strength, she cares for others sometimes more than for herself. She has a heart of gold and sometimes the description of this type of characters can be seen has cocky or  full of them self's,  but not Tiki, she is compassionate and though she has nothing for her it's more than enough. Not to mention she has hands as fast as thunder, she can pick any pocket and she is known for that, but the thing is, everyone thinks that the mysterious girl in indeed a boy. Did i mentioned that she is smart as well??

"Tiki laughed. “I’m quite sure there’s nothing about me that you’d find interesting,”"

And then comes Rieker another known thief, but there's more to him than his cool demeanor. He likes to get on Tiki's nerve, and it wouldn't be an alluring relationship if he didn't do it so. He's cocky but always likes to help orphans and people of the street without hoping for something in return and he also hides one of the biggest secrets of the book, so keep your eyes open for this lover boy...

“You’re in love with her, aren't you?”
“I can see it in his eyes,” Leo said. Curiosity burned liked a flame in his gut. He turned to Rieker. “I can see it when you look at her, when you talk about her. But I feel compelled to stop you, Wills. There’s something amiss. How well do you know her background?”

Then We have: Toots; Fiona; Clara and Shamus... Her friends, the ones she shares everything she has... A Bunch of orphans who were abandoned by the society. Together they make an alliance. I just didn't want to live in they're street otherwise i would get mugged every single day. Yep, they are that good.... They are described as fragile and weak in appearance but when you get to know them you just take it that after all that they have been trough it's a miracle that they are still standing and smiling.

The story is fast paced at a steady rhythmic of events. There's literally everything you may want in this novel, starting with it being Historical fiction which sometimes is not well described , not in this case, i think if so it's what gives the book it's mood and appeal. The streets of London with all it's high's and low's. The Buckingham Palace with it's princes LEO and ARTHUR, but mostly LEO... All the flair of the dresses  the etiquette and all the jewels waiting to be mugged. There's Romance, Faeries and loads of secrets and mysteries. You will get enthralled by the intensity of the faeries tales and intrigues, and a special blonde girl that gets in my nerves...

Kiki Hamilton is indeed special with her way of writing and making us feel connected with the character she gifts us with . I loved each and every one of them...

Wonderful book to read and enjoy <3
